Brian's home base, a short drive northwest of Geneva Lake. Delavan was once a circus town, and that history is still on show downtown.

Riding here

  • Swan Creek Trail. A gravel pedestrian and bike path linking Lange Arboretum, Veterans Park, Terrace Park and the Springs parks. Visit Delavan (opens in a new tab)
  • City rules. E-bikes may not be ridden on sidewalks, downtown bikes may only be parked in a bike rack, and where there's a bike path beside the road you must use it. E-bike riders must be 14 or older (16 for a Class 3 e-bike). City of Delavan code (opens in a new tab)

Lake Geneva

The city at the lake's northeast end, where the Riviera, the beach and downtown meet the water. After the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, wealthy Chicago families built summer estates around the lake, earning it the nickname “Newport of the West.”

Things to do

Riding here

  • No bikes on downtown sidewalks. That covers the business district (Broad, Main and Center Streets and part of Wrigley Drive) and everywhere around the Riviera: its sidewalks, lawns and piers. City of Lake Geneva code (opens in a new tab)
  • City bike path. Lake Geneva has a bike path with five color-coded routes through the community. VISIT Lake Geneva (opens in a new tab)
  • Check before you use it. City code bars motorized vehicles from designated bicycle trails, so ask Brian whether your e-bike may use the path. City of Lake Geneva code (opens in a new tab)
  • White River State Trail. A 19-mile rail trail between Elkhorn and Dover, within five miles of Lake Geneva. Only Class 1 and Class 3 e-bikes are allowed on the state trails the DNR lists, at up to 15 mph, so ask Brian which class your bike is. Wisconsin DNR (opens in a new tab)

Bicycles aren't allowed on the Geneva Lake Shore Path. Lock up and enjoy it on foot.

Williams Bay

A village on the lake's north shore, around the bay it's named for. Yerkes Observatory and the Kishwauketoe Nature Conservancy are both close by, marked on the map.

Things to do

  • Edgewater Park. A lakeside park next to the Williams Bay beach, and one of the restroom stops along the Shore Path. VISIT Lake Geneva (opens in a new tab)
  • Watch for the mail boat. Since 1873, mail has been delivered to lakeside piers by boat. Each summer, from mid-June to mid-September, mail jumpers leap to the piers to deliver it. Wikipedia (opens in a new tab)

Yerkes Observatory

Opened in 1897 and known as the birthplace of modern astrophysics. Its 40-inch lens telescope is the largest refractor ever used for astronomy.

Kishwauketoe Nature Conservancy

231 acres of oak woods, forest and prairie beside Williams Bay, with a boardwalk above the wetland.

Black Point Estate & Gardens

A lakefront summer estate built in 1888 for Chicago beer baron Conrad Seipp, now a Wisconsin Historical Society museum.

Getting there

  • By boat only. There's no parking at the estate. Visitors arrive on a Lake Geneva Cruise Line boat from the Riviera Docks (812 Wrigley Drive, Lake Geneva). The cruise and guided tour take about 3½ hours, and tickets are booked through the cruise line. Black Point Estate (opens in a new tab)
  • History. Built for Conrad Seipp in 1888, and one of two historic lake mansions open to the public. Wikipedia (opens in a new tab)

Ride to the Riviera, lock up, and take the boat. The estate is closed from November to early May.

Brian chose BH after riding them for a weekend and liking how they felt and how well they're built.

Every bike has a step‑through frame, so getting on and off is easier than on a traditional frame. They're made for both road and trail riding, and a helmet comes with every rental.

Meet Brian

A local owner with deep Delavan roots.

Brian Phillips worked alongside his father, Jack, whose furniture and sports equipment business served Delavan for more than 35 years, and later took it over. Today he also rents e‑bikes, delivered personally around the lake.

Before you ride.

Where do you deliver?

We deliver to Delavan, Lake Geneva, Williams Bay and Fontana‑on‑Geneva Lake, Wisconsin. Tell us where you'd like the bikes in your request and Brian will confirm the details.

What does a rental cost?

$60 for 2 hours (the minimum), $75 for 3 hours and $15 for each additional hour. Delivery is $20 for the first bike and $5 for each additional bike.

Can I rent for a day, a weekend or a week?

Yes, longer rentals are available. Choose “Longer rental” in your request and Brian will get back to you with the price.

Is a helmet included?

Yes, a helmet comes with every rental.

Where can I ride?

Quiet roads and permitted trails around the lake. Bicycles aren't allowed on the Geneva Lake Shore Path, which is for walkers, and e‑bike rules vary from trail to trail. Our Explore page has the details.

When is my rental confirmed?

When Brian confirms availability, pricing and delivery with you. Sending the request form doesn't book the bikes on its own.
